Beneath the uppermost Canu'r Gloch Chambers lies an ancient set of tunnels where the legendary dragons of Hafod slumber.
A hidden grotto with a large domed ceiling that lies down a long flight of steps from the main Canu'r Gloch chambers. In the centre of the room are two large, sleeping stone dragon amid a nest of what look like broken, stone egg shells lying around the floor.
"An ancient domed cavern where the legendary dragons of Hafod slumber."
The player, followed by Toby, Daphne and Dylan emerge into the amphitheatre to see the Team Wild Admins and Vivi standing around two dragon statues in the centre.
Toby pleads with Vivi to stop, warning that awakening the dragons will have dire consequences, but Vivi insists that Hafod’s true essence has been buried under cities and machines. She believes the dragons will restore the land to its natural state. Dylan argues that Hafod has never been perfect, and true balance isn’t found in blind nostalgia. Daphne, acknowledging her struggles with belonging, echoes her father’s belief in harmony between tradition and progress.
The Team Wild admins reject this, claiming technology has poisoned the land. Toby insists technology is a tool that can be used for good, but Vivi and her admins refuse to listen, believing only the dragons can restore Hafod. Toby tries one last time, extending her empathy to Vivi, that it is her isolation that has made her believe she doesn’t belong in the modern world. Vivi, unmoved, dismisses his words— only untouched wilderness is true beauty, and she will see Hafod restored, no matter the cost.
The admins move forwards. Toby instructs the player, Daphne and Dylan to each take on one Admin. The player takes on Inva. Once defeated, Daphne and Dylan both call out for help. Toby goes to Daphne's defence and the player goes to help Dylan in a double battle against Densa. Once defeated, the room begins to shake, the sounds of bells and horns grow louder. Vivi laughs gleefully— "they are awakening!" Rocks begin to fall from above and separate the player from their friends. Dylan attempts to get to them but Daphne holds him back.
Vivi approaches the player and they battle. It’s a tough battle but eventually Vivi is defeated. However, she is not disappointed, in fact she laughs and sings again as the room begins to shake even more violently and winds fill the air. Vivi explains that the ancestral energy, that ancient magic, stored inside their Pokémon, released when their Pokémon transform into their ancestral forms, was the key to awakening the dragons. She thanks the player for their contribution, turning to look at the statues which are beginning to crack. More rocks falling from the ceiling clear a path, allowing Daphne, Dylan and Toby to reach the player. They all stare in awe as the statues transform.
From the crumbling statues appear Rhuddisen and Gwyndigo, the ancient Hafodian dragons. They roar and fill the cavern with hot embers and sharp winds, a cacophony of bells and horns. Vivi speaks to the dragons, pleading them to return Hafod to how it once was. She tells them that their wonderful creation has been tainted and lost. The dragons regard her momentarily then, to Vivi's horror, fly up into the dome of the cave and begin to fight among each other.
Outside, in the sky above the chambers, four lights appear in the sky and begin to create a mysterious storm. The weather begins to turn violent and people all over Hafod stare towards the storm in confusion and fear.
Then, back in the cavern, the three mountain guardians appear and form a perfect triangle around the flying dragons. To the Team Wild member's shock, the dragons are calmed by the three and return to the ground. The three mountain guardians disappear.
Outside, the weather returns to normal and the four lights separate again, to four corners of Hafod.
Back in the cave, the two dragons approach the humans, Toby puts herself in front of the other three. The Team Wild admins shake in fear while Vivi begins to cry.
Vivi: Please... No... I don't want to live here. These people, they... they don't see Hafod the way I do. They are... disenchanted...
The dragons circle her, regarding her closely.
Vivi: So this... it was all for nothing? It was... all for nothing... I thought I could restore something pure, something untouched by all this mess, all of these things I don't understand. I was so convinced that if I could stand here, talk to you, that I could turn back time... But it’s clear now that I was wrong. The past is gone, and I can’t bring it back.
The dragons stop and stand beside her.
Hafod will move on without me. I tried to fight against change, to cling to a dream I've always had, and all I’ve ended up with is this... emptiness. The future will come, and it will change, but I won't be a part of it. I can't...
The dragons roar at Vivi, and she trembles but doesn't run. Toby shouts for her to come back, to save herself but she doesn’t. The admins tremble and cry. Toby runs towards Vivi and the dragons but Rhuddisen breathes fire at her feet, as a warning to stay back. Rhuddisen or Gwyndigo (depending on the version of the game you're playing) step forward, ignoring the weeping figure of Vivi, and initiate a battle with the player.
When the dragon is defeated, the room shakes violently again. Rhuddisen lies down to sleep as it had before. Gwyndigo blows a gale through the room which flings the player, Daphne, Dylan, Toby and the Team Wild admins back to the entrance, leaving Vivi behind. Gwyndigo lies down too. Vivi is sitting between them. The three of them become statues. The entrance crumbles and they are lost.
The story continues around the campfire at Y Craffter Regional Park. Read about it here.
