Upon exiting the Pokémon Center, Daphne appears, asking the player how their journey is going. She admits that, despite being born in Hafod, she still doesn’t feel at home— especially now that her father is gone. Feeling homesick, she requests a battle to lift her spirits. Afterward, she reminisces about childhood trips to Cerddinas City with her father and talks about Champion Toby, Hafod’s champion and CEO of Hafod Innovation. She inspires Daphne greatly.
Suddenly, the pair are caught up in a protest march led by people in green chanting, "Keep Hafod Wild!". This, as Daphne recognizes, is the player's first interaction with Team Wild, an extremist group in the region that opposes modern technology. As chaos unfolds, a distressed woman emerges from the Hafod Innovation HQ, chasing off Team Wild members. She introduces herself as Steren, assistant to Champion Toby, and explains that the protesters stole the keys to the city's electrical maintenance area. She asks Daphne and the player to find Toby at the concert hall and deliver a spare set of keys. Daphne, eager to meet Toby, rushes ahead.
At the music hall, Daphne stands in awe as she and the player find Champion Toby deep in conversation with Alaya, the Cerddinas City Gym Leader. Gathering her courage, Daphne interrupts to explain the situation. Toby, composed, thanks them for the warning and mutters about Team Wild’s interference. She instructs them to meet her in the Cerddinas Sewers, where she may need their help. Daphne excitedly agrees and urges the player to follow.

As the player heads toward Route 4, they witness a Team Wild member arguing with an older woman outside a bakery. The woman, Ume, refuses to serve Team Wild after hearing about their recent actions and chases the man away with a broom. He coldly warns her that she’ll regret it before leaving. Ume then greets the player, assuring them that Team Wild is nothing but trouble. Introducing herself as the owner of The Red Dragon Bakery, she explains that she once baked Poffins in Sinnoh but now specializes in authentic Hafodian cakes. As a friendly gesture, she gives the player a handful of Hafodian cakes on the house.
